USP3

A gene on chromosome 15q22.3 that encodes an enzyme which deubiquitinates monoubiquitinated target proteins, such as histones H2A and H2B. USP3 is required for progression through S-phase and mitotic entry; it may regulate the DNA damage response (DDR) checkpoint by deubiquitinating H2A at DNA damage sites. It associates with chromatin and is expressed in all tissues, especially the pancreas.
