Tandem was adapting its ServerNet cluster interconnect technology to put fail-over capability in Microsoft's NT Server.
SII said it aims to enable its system users to migrate to the new NT-based products, and that it will continue selling, supporting and improving current products and will complete work on its new Coyote/3, System/77 on ServerNet and SQL database compliance.
More broadly, the two companies are working to port NT-based Genera software to Tandem Computers' Serverware and ServerNet architecture as a migration path to Windows NT for users of SII's Tandem-based systems.
SII will offer tandem Computers' ServerNet Interconnect technology to meet multimedia data speed and volume demands it anticipates for its funware systems.
Tandem said it will adapt its Servernet cluster interconnect technology to provide fail-over capability to Microsoft's NT Server, while its NonStop ServerWare will support Tandem's scalable SQL database, clustered transaction processing and distributed messaging and object management environment.
Tandem's new ServerNet line will include a server running Tandem's Guardian operating system and another running Unix.
