zinc fingera finger-like structure that is found in specific DNA binding PROTEINS, where the DNA binding DOMAIN of the protein complexes zinc. Zinc fingers are found in various eukaryotic TRANSCRIPTION factors, which have a role in controlling the transcription of specific GENES.
