The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has canceled the registration of Ritrodine (Yutopar), which is used to stop premature labor.
She was placed on an oral maintenance dose of ritodrine hydrochloride, which is marketed under the trade name "Yutopar." Applying Kentucky law, the Sixth Circuit stated that the test for whether a product is in a defective condition and unreasonably dangerous to the user is "whether an ordinarily prudent manufacturer, being fully aware of the risks, would have placed the product on the market." The court determined that the jury's finding that the drug was unreasonably dangerous because of a lack of efficacy was supported by the evidence.
