WASF1(redirected from Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome protein family member 1)
WASF1A gene on chromosome 6q21 that encodes a downstream effector involved in transmitting signals from tyrosine kinase receptors and small GTPases to the actin cytoskeleton. WASF1 promotes formation of actin filaments; it is part of WAVE complexes that regulate lamellipodia formation and actin filament reorganisation via its interaction with the Arp2/3 complex. It is highly expressed in the brain.
