Pruritic papules and pustules in body areas covered by a bathing suit after prolonged immersion in a hot tub; caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

hot tub folliculitis

An inflammation of the hair follicles caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, occurring after exposure to contaminated bath, spa, or swimming pool water. The infection resolves without treatment in about 14 days. Synonym: Pseudomonas folliculitis; splash rash.
