Sports medicine An illegal block in American football in which a player hits the opponent from the rear, below the knees. If seen by a referee, it carries a 15-yard penalty. Clipping injuries in adolescents can lead to fractures through the epiphyseal plate and injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament

clippingNeurosurgery A definitive therapy for intracranial aneurysms, which consists of the direct obliteration of the aneurysmal neck with a clip of the proper strength, shape, and size, that prevents the flow of blood into the dome of the aneurysm, while preserving the parent artery.
