Bridey Murphy

The name adopted by a US housewife, Virginia Tighe, whilst under hypnosis, for a past life that she had allegedly led as an Irishwoman in the early 19th century. The case started a past-lives craze in popular culture; scientists who evaluated the Bridey Murphy story attributed all of it to memories of Tighe’s own (not a past) childhood.
