Veraguth’s fold

Veraguth’s fold

An obsolete term that formerly dignified a fold of skin on the lateral third of the upper eyelid, which the German neurologist Otto Veraguth (1870–1940) attributed to melancholy and depression; it is not uncommonly seen in normal individuals of advanced age.
