PDGFC

A gene on chromosome 4q32 that encodes platelet-derived growth factor C, a growth factor which plays a key role in regulating embryonic development and in cell proliferation, migration, survival and chemotaxis. It is mitogenic for mesenchymal cells and required for normal skeleton formation during embryonic development, especially of the craniofacial skeleton; for normal development of the palate; and for normal skin morphogenesis. It plays an important role in wound healing and in angiogenesis.
