VDT

A terminal used in information processing (computer terminal) and entertainment (TV picture tube) that produces an image on a screen (target) by bombarding it with electrons. This causes the fluorescent material that coats the screen to emit light. The effects on workers involved with the use of VDTs have been investigated with respect to a variety of factors. There is no evidence that reproductive or visual health is impaired by working with VDTs. Those who work with VDTs may experience musculoskeletal difficulties if the workplaces are poorly designed. This may be due to the screen being positioned in a way that promotes poor posture, or the chair being of improper design.

The vision of the Virtual Design Team (VDT) project is that managers should design organizations the same way engineers design bridges: by building and analyzing computational models of planned organizations and the processes that they support.
On-screen image quality is determined by the resolution and color capabilities of the computer and the VDT. Resolution is expressed in terms of pixels appearing on the VDT.

VDT engineers have chosen another, less elaborate design in which the two crosswise-opposing sheaves of each pulley are axially fixed on their shafts, whereas the others can move.

* Elasticity and mechanical properties: For applications requiring good elasticity and mechanical properties (i.e., abrasion and chemical resistance), VDT technology can achieve both easily.
Schaumberg and co-authors reported an association between prolonged VDT use and MGD, but they were unclear whether VDT use "might contribute to the development of MGD itself or just exacerbate symptoms in preexisting MGD" (p.
