UCHL1(redirected from Ubiquitin C-Terminal Hydrolase)
Also found in: Acronyms.
UCHL1A gene on chromosome 4p14 that encodes a ubiquitin-protein hydrolase, involved both in processing of ubiquitin precursors and ubiquitinated proteins, which recognises and hydrolyses a peptide bond at the C-terminal glycine of ubiquitin. UCHL1 also binds free monoubiquitin and may prevent its degradation in lysosomes.
