Freedom of Information Act 2000

UK legislation that guarantees public access to information. The FoIA grants any person the right, subject to certain exclusions, to any type of recorded information held by a public authority within 20 days of the request—even information prior to enactment of the law—unless there are clear extenuating circumstances.
