A fanciful descriptor for the bright red fundoscopic findings in a number of metabolic diseases including Sturge-Weber syndrome, cerebral lipidosis, Prader-Willi syndrome—which is characterised by hypertonicity, hyperphagia, neonatal obesity, small stature, hands and feet, mental retardation—and Zellweger’s cerebrohepatorenal syndrome, an autosomal recessive condition characterised by dysmorphia, hepatomegaly and increased long chain fatty acids
