This collection follows The Universal Vampire: Origins and Evolutions of a Legend in a two-volume series divided across temporal lines
examining the historical and the contemporary vampire.
The absence of temporal lines
is an indication of the absence of horn cores.
This first book in a new series from the Institute of Ismaili Studies includes a dozen essays on various aspects of the Islamic world, cutting across geographical and temporal lines
, from a wide-range of scholars working in the UK, US, and Australia.
I have distributed those works into four categories, distinguishing between the texts that tell a story and the ones that do not, and then asking how historians organize their data when they do not order them along temporal lines.
Among the works that still arrange the information along temporal lines, several belong to the model that I propose to call "stage narrative": their authors slice up the period (or the part of the period that they consider) into a certain number of moments, which they successively characterize and piece together to constitute a story.
Indeed, the data that comprise them are not arranged along temporal lines. They follow other models of textual disposition, two of which I will examine here.
But it is not obvious why this admission should eliminate the distinction between the mythos and the logos: between the narrative, conducted along temporal lines, of how something was "discovered," and the account, given along logical lines, of the structure of what was discovered.
The opisthocranium is characterized by the slightly concave occipital in vertical plane, an expansion of the posterior tuberosities, the large auditory bulla, the triangular shaped basioccipital and the reduced temporal lines. The occipital condyles are large and clearly projected beyond the summit of the occipital crest.
The weak temporal lines of the opisthocranium are the features found in Bucapra, Hemibos and female Proamphibos.
The flattened occipital surface and reduced temporal lines are present in H.
Creative action is distributed along a social, material, and temporal line
(for a similar argument about cognition, see Hutchins, 2000).
