TTLL5A gene on chromosome 14q24.3 that encodes a polyglutamylase which preferentially modifies alpha-tubulin. TTLL5 is involved in the side-chain initiation step of polyglutamylation, rather than in the elongation step. It enhances NCOA2’s glucocorticoid receptor-mediated repression and induction and its androgen receptor-mediated induction. It is also the retired HUGO symbol for what is now designated TTLL10, see there.
