TNFSF13

A gene on chromosome 17p13.1 that encodes a cytokine of the tumour necrosis factor family, which binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI and to TNFRSF17/BCMA. It is highly expressed in cancers of the colon, thyoid and lymphoid tissues; it may regulate tumour cell growth and be involved in macrophage-mediated immunity. It is popularly known as APRIL.
