In fact, it was the folks at Impact Hub who encouraged Storj to apply for the TCIP grant.
When looking at resources like WTC Utah, Miller Business Resource Center, GOED's TCIP, and Impact Hub Salt Lake, it's clear why Utah is fertile ground for growing companies.
"Grant monies are used to help very early-stage companies put down roots in Utah and become the next wave of great companies," says Tom Wadsworth, TCIP fund manager.
According to Wadsworth, TCIP was initially designed to help foster spin-out companies from university research.
The TCIP monies will be used to bridge the gap between the idea funding they received from the National Science Foundation and private funding, according to Atria.
The TCIP grant allows nView medical to move its technology from prototype status to clinical research and then measure the benefits in the operating room.
projects range from technologies seeking to make a new flu vaccine that would require flu shots only every several years, rather than each year, to a new light-emitting diode (LED) nanotechnology using semiconductors called "quantum dots" that could dramatically lower the cost of producing flat-screen TVs, cell phones and other devices that use LEDs.
