TFEC(redirected from TCFEC)
TFECA gene on chromosome 7q31.2 that encodes a transcription factor which, depending on context, upregulates or downregulates transcription. TFEC represses transcription on minimal promoter-containing element F and mu E3 enhancer. It acts as a transcription transactivator on the promoter region of the tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) E-box-containing promoter, and it collaborates with MITF in target gene activation. It is expressed in the spleen, kidney, bone marrow, small intestine and peripheral white cells.
