surgical scrubs

Cotton or cotton/polyester wearing apparel, consisting of a short-sleeved shirt and drawstring pants, that is the universal uniform of surgeons. Surgical scrubs are often a faded Kelly green (hence the common synonym, greens), but may also be beige, blue, magenta or purple. Scrubs are typically reserved for the OR, used during bloody procedures, or for sleeping in the hospital.
