stretch·ing ex·er·cise

Exercises performed actively, passively, or with partner assistance to take a muscle to the point of tension for a period of 15-30 seconds. Used before and after exercise to prevent muscle cramps and/or injury to the muscle or joint.

stretching exercise

A therapeutic exercise maneuver, using physiological principles, designed to increase joint range of motion or extensibility of pathologically shortened connective tissue structures.
