TAL1

A gene on chromosome 1p32 that encodes a protein which may play a key role in haematopoietic differentiation.

Molecular pathology
Defects in TAL1 may cause T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (T-ALL), in which there is a translocation t(1;14) (p32;q11) with T-cell receptor alpha chain (TCRA).

With our recently published patent application on human bone marrow stem cell protein biomarkers for drug resistance in leukemia patients, the usefulness of our biomarker discovery technology for stem cell therapy applications has already been demonstrated.
ICT-111 is IMUC's cancer stem cell vaccine which consists of dendritic cells--immune system cells responsible for presenting antigens (immune system targets) to the immune system--which are obtained from the patient's blood and "programmed" with a specific cancer stem cell protein which in turn provides a target for the immune system.
