A drug that inhibits phosphodiesterase, C23H32N6O4S, used in its hydrochloride form to treat erectile dysfunction by increasing the level of cyclic GMP, which increases blood flow to the erectile tissues.

vardenafilA selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5, the enzyme in the penis that limits the action of nitric oxide in promoting erection. (See SILDENAFIL CITRATE for fuller account). The drug is said to be effective more rapidly than Viagra. A brand name, presumably selected with the irresistible necessity for humour, is Levitra.
