calcaneal spur

abnormal, often painful bony outgrowth on the lower surface of the calcaneus, resulting from chronic traumatic pressure on the heel. Also called bone spur, heel spur.

heel spur

A bony outgrowth of the planta surface of the calcaneus, which can be seen by imaging of the foot.

Clinical findings
Recurrent heel pain, plantar fasciitis.

Management
NSAIDS, orthotics, surgery when all else fails.
