A group of diseases that includes ANKYLOSING SPONDYLITIS, ARTHRITIS associated with ULCERATIVE COLITIS and CROHN'S DISEASE, REITER'S SYNDROME, arthritis associated with PSORIASIS, BEHÇET'S SYNDROME and WHIPPLE'S DISEASE. All feature inflammation of joints, especially of the spine, a tendency to inflammation at tendon attachments and a negative response to tests for RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS.

The fact of the matter is that there are elements of Behcet's that go along with seronegative spondarthritis. There surely are immunological aberrations in Behcet's; the unique pathergy phenomenon of Behcet's represents a bona fide increased inflammatory propensity, and there can be vasculitis in this curious condition from the minute venule all the way to the left ventricle.
