selenium

 [sĕ-le´ne-um]
a chemical element, atomic number 34, atomic weight 78.96, symbol Se. (See Appendix 6.) It is an essential mineral nutrient. Dietary sources of selenium include seafoods, kidney, and liver. Humans can adjust their homeostasis mechanism for selenium over a wide range of dietary intakes. Recommended intake levels are generally met from the diet, so that supplements are not necessary.
selenium sulfide
1. the sulfide salt of selenium, a topical antiseborrheic and antifungal applied topically to the scalp to control seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff; also used topically in the treatment of tinea versicolor.
2. the sulfide salt of selenium, an antiseborrheic and antifungal; used topically in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis and dandruff of the scalp and of tinea versicolor.

Patient discussion about Se

Q. Good evening, ihave aproblem of gustric ulcers which disturb me much could you p`se advise me about agood drug DR i feel pain and some times i spit mucuslike flids and after that the pain reduces most especially when i am hungry.Thank you for advice on the drugs which can help me and i will be gratfull byebye!.

A. First of all, we are not doctors here. We are people like you, and no one here can either recommend or prescribe you any medication.

Regarding gastric ulcers, in many times it results from an infection by H. pylori, and treating this infection (by a combination of several drugs) may solve the problem. You should consult your doctor about it.

Improving fat-suppressed T2-weighted imaging of the head and neck with 2 fast spin-echo dix-on techniques: initial experiences.
Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) of the whole brain was performed in the axial plane with b values of 0 and 1000 s/mm [sup]2 using a single-shot spin-echo planar imaging sequence (repetition time/echo time of 2279/60 ms, 136 x 133 matrix, 230 mm x 230 mm FOV, one excitation, and 5 mm thickness).

* After acquisition of a sagittal T2-weighted fast spin-echo localizer image, transverse high resolution T2-weighted fast spin-echo images was obtained from below the apex of the prostate to above the seminal vesicles with the following parameters: repetition time msec/echo time msec (effective) of 4,000/100, 3-mm section thickness, no intersection gap, 14-cm field of view, 256x192 matrix.
For MR imaging of the brain, fast FLAIR techniques offer several unique advantages over conventional spin-echo imaging.
All patients were studied in sagittal and coronal planes with multi-slice; spin-echo (T1 weighted acquisition) and fast scan (T2-weighted images) techniques.
SGE sequences with the use of phased-array multicoil imaging may be used to replace longer duration sequences such as T1W spin-echo sequences.
The measurement was taken in sagittal and coronal views (Fig-1).The coronal and sagittal views were displayed by using midline plane of both [T.sub.1]-weighted sagittal spin-echo and [T.sub.2]-weighted coronal spin-echo image.
Three-dimensional fast spin-echo imaging: Pulse sequence and in vivo image evaluation.
Fast spin-echo (FSE) imaging in conjunction with fat suppression (FS) MR techniques, were used which extended the sensitivity and specificity of MR in the detection of articular cartilage and ligament injuries.
For those sequences for which SAR does affect the pulse sequence, other solutions may be applied, including parallel imaging to shorten echo trains (with a small reduction in optimal SNR), (9-11) and tailored RF pulse shapes or flip angles (variable-rate selective excitation, hyperecho-turbo spin-echo, transition between pseudo steady-states).
