This study aimed to examine whether more intense one-to-one "consultant with specialty trainee
doctor" teaching in the outpatient clinic setting would make any difference in the trainees' educational progress and the clinical effectiveness with regard to patient outcomes or not.
Without prior warning, the questionnaire was handed to ten anaesthetic staff in each of the following categories: consultant, specialty trainee
year 6/7 (ST6/7), specialty trainee
year 4 (ST4), specialty trainee
year 1/2 (ST1/2) and operating department practitioner (ODP) in the Department of Anaesthetics at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust in October 2008.
It wants at least 200 GP specialty trainee
places in Wales each year for the workforce to reach more suitable levels - a rise from the current figure of 136.
Evaluation of the educational climate for specialty trainees
The controllable lifestyle features, including control of working hours, of dermatology make it popular among female doctors [2,9,10]: in the UK in 2016,57% of consultants and 75% of higher specialty trainees
in dermatology were women .
Looking at peer professions, trainee pharmacists had an average pass rate of 84% for their registration assessment in 2016, while GP specialty trainees
had a pass rate of 80% in their clinical skills assessment in 2014.
Equally, a third of specialty trainees
said they had acted down to cover junior doctor rota gaps in the last year.
She said: "GP specialty trainees
will be able to access expert HR advice and support throughout their training in Wales and, by having just one employer during this training period, it should make it easier to obtain mortgages and access other benefits such as child-care vouchers.
From interviews it became clear that Family Medicine trainees are assumed to have same training requirement as the specialty trainees
in which they rotate by the hospital staff and faculty.
