Sir, - When the Audit Commission comes to Birmingham in September to look at the running of the city council, they will no doubt confirm what we already know, that they have many areas that need improving, such as the social services department, which was given a zero rating performance, and the housing department which faces severe financial crisis following the defeat of the Labour council's attempt to transfer the council housing stock and the benefit service that had a backlog at its peak of 85,000 applicants.
