sexual reassignmentTranssexual conversion, sex change, sex conversion The constellation of surgical and medical therapies intended to physically change a person from one sexual phenotype to the other; most SRs are in a he → she direction–the ♂:♀ ratio of SRs is 3 to 7:1; ♀→♂ reassignment is less common and more difficult; in a study of 40 ♀ transsexuals, ±1⁄2 had endocrine dysfunction–eg, polycystic ovarian disease, gonadal dysgenesis. Male-to-female RA Bilateral orchiectomy, penectomy, vaginoplasty, breast augmentation, homone therapy AMN 17/2/92, p26. Female-to-male RA Partially successful; requires mastectomy, hysterectomy, androgenic hormone therapy
