the absence from the seminiferous tubules of the testes of germinal epithelium, only Sertoli cells are present; there is sterility due to azoospermia but no other sexual abnormality, Leydig cells are normal, but the level of gonadotrophins in the plasma and urine is increased; probably represents one form of seminiferous tubule dysgenesis.

Sertoli-cell-only syndrome

Etymology: Enrico Sertoli
a form of male sterility in which only Sertoli cells are present in the seminiferous tubules of the testes. Germinal epithelium is absent, resulting in azoospermia.
