Semple’s vaccine

Semple’s vaccine

An obsolete variant of Pasteur’s vaccine for rabies using a phenol-inactivated virus that had been passed through sheep spinal cord (14 to 21 daily injections), a major disadvantage being that within the vaccine there were co-inoculation spinal cord proteins, which often initiated demyelinating immune responsiveness.
