A descriptive term for the normal appearance of lumbar vertebra when viewed obliquely on a plain film, where the pedicle, the transverse process, the superior articular process, and the inferior articular process form the eye, nose, ear and front legs respectively; spondylolysis causes a fracture through the neck of the 'dog'
