ZEB2A gene on chromosome 2q22.3 that encodes a member of the Zfh1 family of 2-handed zinc finger/homeodomain proteins, which localises in the nucleus and acts as a DNA-binding transcriptional repressor that interacts with activated SMADs.
ZEB2 mutations are associated with Mowat-Wilson syndrome, which is accompanied by Hirschprung disease.
