SIRT5(redirected from SIR2-like protein 5)
SIRT5A gene on chromosome 6p23 that encodes an NAD-dependent enzyme that specifically removes malonyl and succinyl groups on target proteins. Activates CPS1 and helps regulate blood ammonia levels during prolonged fasting by desuccinylating CPS1, thereby increasing its activity in response to elevated NAD levels.
