SHC4

(redirected from SHC-transforming protein 4)

SHC4

A gene on chromosome 15q21.1-q21.2 that encodes a signalling adapter protein which activates Ras-dependent and Ras-independent migratory pathways in melanomas. SHC4 contributes to the early phases of agrin-induced tyrosine phosphorylation of CHRNB1, and it interacts with MUSK and GRB2. It is highly expressed at the transition from radial growth phase to vertical growth phase and metastatic melanomas, when tumour cells acquire migratory competence and invasive potential.
