Rolando fracture

Orthopedics A 3-part comminuted intraarticular fracture/dislocation at the base of the thumb/1st metacarpal, in which a large dorsal fragment of the metacarpal continues to articulate with trapezium. See Fracture. Cf Bennett fracture.

Fracture to the base of the first metacarpal with vertical extension into the joint as a T or Y fracture.

Rolando fracture

A comminuted intra-articular fracture of the base of the first metacarpal with distal fragment subluxation. This fracture is similar to a Bennett fracture, but with more comminution.
