Three of the 15 positive cavities with residual tumor had VT growth in a solid pattern (Figure 1, F), 5 in a discontinuous rim pattern (Figure 1, B), and 7 in a nodular pattern (Figure 1, D).
Not surprisingly, this was our largest cavity at 5.6 cm and had a nodular growth pattern which, based on our data, facilitates radiologic detection better than a discontinuous rim pattern. Radiology was not able to identify VT comprising less than 5% of the other smaller cavities.
