IPO.aj.9(redirected from Ran-binding protein 9)
IPO.aj.9A gene on chromosome 1q32.1 that encodes a importin 9, which plays a key role in nuclear protein import as a transport receptor for nuclear localisation signals on cargo substrates. It mediates docking of the importin/substrate complex to the nuclear pore complex by binding to nucleoporin; the complex is subsequently translocated through the pore by an energy-requiring, Ran-dependent mechanism.
