IPO.ah.7(redirected from Ran-binding protein 7)
IPO.ah.7A gene on chromosome 11p15.4 that encodes one of the approximately 20 potential Ran targets that share a sequence motif related to the Ran-binding site of importin-beta. Like importin-beta, IPO7 prevents the activation of Ran’s GTPase by RanGAP1 and inhibits nucleotide exchange on RanGTP; it also binds directly to nuclear pore complexes, where it competes for binding sites with importin-beta and transportin.
