In humans, the yeast homologous Rad6 gene is duplicated and the proteins encoded by the two genes HHR6A (or Rad6A) and HHR6B (Rad6B) from chromosomes Xq24-q25 and 5q23-q31, respectively, share 95% identical amino acid residues [24].
