psoas sign

Radiology The loss of the sharp delineation of the psoas muscle border normally seen on a plain erect abdominal film Significance Intra-abdominal or retroperitoneal pathology–eg, hemorrhage in trauma victims or florid acute inflammation in ruptured appendicitis.

psoas sign

Abdominal pain produced by extension of the hip. The sign indicates a retrocecal or retroperitoneal lesion.
