proximal radioulnar articulation

the pivot joint between the circumference of the head of the radius and the ring formed by the radial notch of the ulna and the annular ligament. The joint allows the rotary movements of the head of the radius in pronation and supination. Also called superior radioulnar joint. Compare distal radioulnar articulation.
