polyhydramnios

Excess amniotic fluid in the womb (uterus) during pregnancy. The main effects are discomfort and breathlessness. The uterus is larger than normal for the stage of the pregnancy. Withdrawal of excess fluid through a needle passed through the abdominal wall can provide temporary relief. Compare OLIGOHYDRAMNIOS.
