At half duplex, BCHS-RFCOMM has a lower data rate of 360kbit/s and support for 3 slaves on a piconet -- this compares to the 721kbit/s and 7 slaves support offered by BCHS-HCI.
Also at the show, Parthus is demonstrating multiple PCs connected via a Bluetooth piconet that enables a user to share files, work on documents simultaneously and even stream video from device to device.
All piconet activity is captured in the baseband and the various levels are clearly displayed on the designer's PC in a traditional Windows(TM) environment by simply selecting the appropriate tab.

Along with built-in self-test diagnostic routines, the baseband supports point-point, point-multipoint, up to 7 slaves per piconet and up to 4 piconets for scatternet operation, master/slave switch, full Bluetooth data rates (723.
This demonstrates not only a working piconet with Parthus IP, but also industry interoperability as it combines Parthus baseband IP with the RF chipsets of Ericsson, Silicon Wave, Nat Semi and Alps.
A piconet is a group of devices synchronized together in a common communication pattern.
The Alcatel baseband offers a comprehensive variety of functionalities -- including Piconet and Scatternet capabilities -- and will therefore be an important step to make Bluetooth the wireless technology of choice.
Decoding is performed at all levels within and above the Bluetooth protocol stack and a transaction-level view of the piconet is available, including timestamp and frequency-hop information.
The kit also allows Piconet applications to be tested, this involves eight different Bluetooth devices communicating with each other and swapping information.
