Phase 5

Phase 5

A type of clinical study that follows Phase-4 (postmarketing) studies (in which additional information about the drug's risks, benefits and optimal use that may be requested by regulatory authorities in conjunction with marketing approval). Phase 5 corresponds to long-term postmarketing surveillance; it is rare that a drug that makes it to Phase 5 gets “pulled” from the market.
