PEX14A gene on chromosome 1p36.22 that encodes peroxin-14, a peroxisomal membrane protein that is an integral part of the peroxisomal import machinery, acting as a transcriptional co-repressor and interacting with a histone deacetylase.
PEX14 mutations cause peroxisome biogenesis spectrum disorders—e.g., Zellweger syndrome.
