Other examples of prescription drugs used frequently by women include sedatives such as triazolam (Halcion) and estazolam (ProSom); analgesics like meperidine (Demerol) or other types of painkillers such as oxycodone mixed with aspirin (Percodan) or guaifenesin mixed with codeine (Brontex); and stimulants such as methylphenidate (Ritalin), sibutramine (Meridia) and dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine).
According to an Associated Press report, Drug Enforcement Administration figures show dramatic rises between 2000 and 2010 in the distribution in several states of oxycodone, the key ingredient in OxyContin, Percocet and Percodan. Similarly, the distribution of hydrocodone--the key ingredient in Vicodin, Norco and Lortab --is rising in Appalachia, the original epicenter of the painkiller epidemic, and in the Midwest.

Opioids are powerful painkillers sold under the names OxyContin, Demerol, Percodan, Vicodin, and Lomotil (among others).
