Pellegrini's disease

 [pel″ĕ-gre´nēz] (Pellegrini-Stieda disease [pel″ĕ-gre´ne shte´dah]) calcification of the medial collateral ligament of the knee due to trauma.

Etymology: Augusto Pellegrini, Italian surgeon, b. 1877
ossification of the upper part of the medial collateral ligament, sometimes accompanied by bony growth at the internal condyle of the femur. The condition usually follows a leg injury. Also called Pelligrini-Stieda disease.
