(pō-trē-ā'),
a microscopic lesion in the epidermis, seen in mycosis fungoides; it is composed of the same type of atypical mononuclear cells as those that form the infiltrate in the corium.

However, Pautrier microabscesses are not as common in comparison to classic MF.
Although abnormal T cells can be detected in skin biopsies of patients with L-HES, they usually show a perivascular and dermal pattern of infiltration and do not show significant epidermotropism or other features of mycosis fungoides, such as Pautrier microabscesses or formation of patches, plaques, and tumors.
Lymphoid cells aligned along the basilar epidermis and entered the lower epidermis, with occasional, small, intraepidermal collections that resembled Pautrier microabscesses. The lymphoid cells were predominantly small and displayed round to slightly irregular nuclear contours, mature chromatin, and pericellular haloes.
