Parsonsia

Parsonsia

Australian genus of woody vines in the Apocynaceae family. P. eucalyptophylla, P. lilacina and P. straminea are the species that are most suspect. Firm evidence about their toxic effects is lacking but some can cause nitrate-nitrite poisoning. Cardiac glycosides or cyanogenic glucosides may also be present. Called also gargaloo.
